Can I use my health insurance?
Yes! We accept hundreds of out-of-network insurance plans around the country and in-network Medicare for doctor visit fees. We also accept almost all HSA/FSA cards. At this time, most insurance companies do not pay for membership fees, just doctor visits. We currently do not accept Medicaid.
Why do you charge a membership fee and a fee for each doctor visit?
Charging a membership fee helps us keep doctor-visit costs down, similar to a big box store where you pay for a membership in order to get lower prices on groceries and household goods.
What do you mean by "primary care"?
Primary care refers to accessible, comprehensive, person-focused healthcare. It is based on a long-term relationship with a primary care provider who understands the full scope of the patient's health situation and can coordinate specialized care when needed.

What kind of technology or software do I need for an online doctor visit?
For a video visit, you can use any smart device that connects to the internet, including a phone, tablet, or laptop. If you don't have internet access, you can also conduct doctor "visits" by text message.
Does HealthTap give doctors notes?
Yes. HealthTap doctors can provide notes to verify that you've seen a doctor about your overall health or for a certain medical condition. This can be used for participation in sports programs, for school programs, or given to your employer.
Are there any medications that HealthTap doctors cannot prescribe?
There are some medications that are always prescribed in-person and cannot be prescribed by HealthTap doctors (or any other doctor seeing a patient online). These include opioids and other controlled substances and some psychiatric and lifestyle drugs.
What credentials do HealthTap doctors have?
HealthTap doctors who conduct online doctor visits are based in the U.S. and have at least one medical degree. Additionally, they are board-certified with an accredited American Board of Medical Specialities (ABMS) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) speciality board. They have a valid and unrestricted license to practice in one or more U.S. state and no significant adverse professional action against the doctor's medical license.
